Tuesday, July 9, 2013 When Financial Repression Translates into Sales So, loads of people loath the government's ongoing efforts at "financial repression" to keep interest rates low, right? One fund firm is leveraging this hate to sell a set of mutual fund strategies that have found their sweet spot in this frustrating market. Allianz Global Investors [profile] is crafting a variety of sales, strategies, including a marketing tool, to resonate with irked investors. "We have had a lot of success taking advantage of strategies that fit into the market at this time," Roddy Marino, head of advisory sales, recently told MFWire. There are a number of strategies that Marino and his colleagues have been able to showcase to advisors as methods for riding out the repression, including high-yield, income, growth and global asset allocation. "The message that we are hearing is that investors are realizing they need to look for some yield, looking for a bit more growth," Marino said. Distributing these funds, as well as developing new funds to meet the market, has become easier thanks to Allianz' unification of its sales operation, as well as the efforts of U.> retail head John Carroll to expand the firm's footprint. In the meantime, Marino says, Allianz continues to draw in advisor converts. "We are continuing to talk about these strategies, they will continue to be a focus. We are trying to get word out that this is one of the things we bring to the table," he said. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=44817 Copyright 2013, InvestmentWires, Inc. All Rights Reserved |
