J.P. Morgan's Quinsee Shares His Bullish Views


Barrons' Lawrence Strauss spoke with Paul Quinsee, CEO of large-cap core and value U.S. equity at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, who says he thinks U.S. stock investors will see an annual returns of around 8 percent for the next five years. His long term view is bullish. He said the 5 percent setback investors have seen recently is at the low end of what should be expected in a typical stock market year.
Also, think about how investors have done in the U.S. equity market compared to the rest of their portfolios. Returns for many fixed-income investors are now slightly negative, and many international stock markets, particularly emerging markets, have been weak as well. So on a relative and absolute basis, what U.S. stocks have achieved looks pretty good.
Though Quinsee said consumers and companies are reducing their debt, he is concerned the government isn't on track to balance spending and income.
