An Asset Manager Hires a Head of Intermediary Sales


American Century Investments [profile] has hired Joseph Schultz to serve as senior vice president and head of intermediary sales.

Schultz will lead American Century’s domestic Intermediary sales group with responsibility for the firm’s field and internal sales businesses, including wirehouses, regional and independent advisors, registered investment advisors (RIAs), insurance company advisors and broker-dealer key account management.

He will report to chief client officer – Americas Peter Cieszko, and will join the company on April 15.

He is a former managing director and Head of U.S. Broker Dealer Sales and Relationship Management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

SCHULTZ TO HEAD INTERMEDIARY SALES AT AMERICAN CENTURY INVESTMENTS



KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 27, 2013 — American Century Investments has named Joseph G. Schultz, CFA, as senior vice president and Head of Intermediary Sales. Schultz will lead American Century’s domestic Intermediary sales group with responsibility for the firm’s field and internal sales businesses, including wirehouses, regional and independent advisors, registered investment advisors (RIAs), insurance company advisors and broker-dealer key account management. Reporting to Chief Client Officer – Americas Peter Cieszko, Schultz will join the company on April 15.

A former managing director and Head of U.S. Broker Dealer Sales and Relationship Management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Schultz will lead American Century’s Intermediary sales group as it delivers the firm’s investment management expertise to financial institutions, according to Cieszko.

“Joe is a talented leader who brings demonstrated success in leading teams to establish and execute distribution strategy in the Intermediary business,” said Cieszko. “In his 19 years in the industry, he has achieved increased levels of responsibility and success across various sales functions.” In addition to leading sales teams, Schultz will be a member of the company’s Product & Markets and Distribution Operating Committees.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Schultz was senior vice president and Director of Sales and Distribution for Prudential Financial. He joined Prudential from PaineWebber, Inc. He graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics. He is a member of AIMR-N.Y. Society of Security Analysts, the ICI Distribution and Marketing Committee and a Board Member and Treasurer of the Money Management Institute. He also is a CFA charterholder.
