Closed Tuesday, Wall Street Pins Hopes on Wednesday

For the first time in more than a century, according to Bloomberg, weather has stopped U.S. equity trading for two straight days thanks to Sandy. The bond markets also remain closed today.

Meanwhile, NYSE Euronext, the operator of the New York Stock Exchange and other markets, is testing a contingency plan to see whether equity trading can be resumed Wednesday, according to Reuters and Bloomberg, and the Wall Street Journal.

Indeed, the equity exchange operator faced a revolt Sunday when it considered the possibility of keeping the NYSE open on Monday, according to Reuters.
