Vanguard Honchos Lay Plans for a New Ship in Malvern Fleet

Vanguard [profile] may be adding yet another ship to Admiral Nelson's fleet.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reports rumors that the REIT Liberty Property Trust is looking to construct a new building for Vanguard Group Inc. at its Quarry Ridge site in Malvern, Pa.

According to the chatter, Liberty is constructing a building around 250,000 square feet that would enable Vanguard to relocate employees it has working at 151 Warner Road in King of Prussia, Pa. Liberty owns 151 Warner. Vanguard is one of the real estate investment trust’s biggest tenants.

This would be the second time this year that Vanguard has expended its Malvern complex, which consists of buildings and roads named after ships in the fleet Admiral Nelson commanded in the historic Battle of the Nile. Buildings as the site have already been named the Majestic, the Victory, the Zealous and the Swiftsure. Admiral Nelson Drive is in command of the campus.

In September, Vanguard announced that it was buying a $40 million complex right near the Malvern headquarters.

The news begs the question: Could Vanguard ultimately run out of ship names for its fleet?
