Is This Man The Future of BlackRock?

Rob Goldstein isn't your stereotypical flashy Wall Street-type. CNN Money reporter Mina Kimes describes him in her new profile as both "nerdy" and "quirky." But he might just be in line to take over the world's biggest money manager.

That's the takeaway from Kime's profile on the BlackRock star. In July, when asked about possible successors, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink specifically mentioned Goldstein. Two weeks later, Goldstein was on the firm's executive committee, Kimes reports.

The profile is a long but fascinating look at a relative unknown who could soon rise to be one of the most influential people on Wall Street. It talks about how Goldstein finished high school at 16, went to SUNY-Binghamton, and got his job at BlackRock by writing a letter. It also includes this gem of a fact — the nerdy finance guy is also a huge Deadhead.
