Rochte Starts Building His Team in the Rockies

Fidelity [ profile] is hiring. And still better if you are a skier -- Fidelity is hiring in Denver. The Boston Behemoth is seeking senior executives as it ramps up its just-created business in the Rockies. As reported previously, SSgA ETF veteran Tony Rochte heads the unit, which for now is known as SelectCo.

Among the open jobs is that of a senior legal counsel, spokesman Jeff Cathie told MFWire.

Rochte's group is also now seeking quantitative analysts, according to Cathie.

Still, at least one major opening at SelectCo was filled through an internal transfer. Bill Kavanagh, former CFO for Fidelity's Asset Management organization, has moved to Denver as the newly created division’s chief operating officer.

Meanwhile, Matt Goulet recently joined the new division as a vice president of business strategy. Goulet is a veteran of both BlackRock and SSgA. He started at SSgA as as an ETF researcher and more recentl was a strategist on BlackRock's iShares product.

Not much more is known about the specifics of the jobs Rochte and Kavanagh seek to fill. Cathie explained that "as we are still in the early stages of building this new division, it is premature to discuss details of our organizational structure, staffing, and business strategy."

"That said, we will develop an organizational structure that will allow us to successfully compete in the marketplace and meet the needs of our clients for more specialized sector portfolio investment options," Cathie elaborated.

He also explained that SelectCo is intended to "focus exclusively on leveraging our current sector investment management expertise and scale to meet the evolving needs of our clients."
