Donahue Compares Money Fund Battle to Football

Federated's [profile] Christopher Donahue likens the neverending battle between the money market fund industry and the SEC to a football match.

Reuters reports that during a webcast from the Barclays 2012 Global Financial Services Conference in New York, Donahue said: "This is an endless play off series." He added that there's no "final Super Bowl."

The Federated chief was one of the most vocal individuals who rallied against the SEC's proposed money market fund reforms. Last month, SEC chair Mary Schapiro did not have all the votes she needed to push for the changes. Donahue says the debate on stricter rules for money market funds will not be resolved any time soon.
