"As demand for alternative investments continue to gain momentum, I look forward to helping financial advisors and their clients achieve their long-term investment goals," Hutten stated in a company press release.

Michael J. Hutten Rejoins Hatteras As Executive Director

Appointment Expands Firm's Ability to Provide Innovative Alternative Investment Solutions That Meet Advisors' Evolving Needs for Portfolio Diversification

RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 8, 2012 -- Hatteras Funds ("Hatteras"), a boutique alternative investment specialist providing unique alternative investment solutions for financial advisors and their clients, has announced that Michael J. Hutten has returned to the firm as Executive Director. Mr. Hutten will lead sales initiatives in the Western U.S. region, focusing on business development and client relations, serving Investment Consultants, RIAs, and Broker/Dealers.

Hatteras believes that advisors will continue to face challenges using only equities, bonds and cash to create portfolios that meet investors' return targets. This may require advisors to adjust their asset allocation and portfolio construction strategies to incorporate greater allocations to alternative investments. Mr. Hutten will play a key role in harnessing the opportunities stemming from this growing demand for alternative investments.

"Our growth strategy involves structuring solution-oriented products that address the needs of advisors, and this requires someone who asks advisors the right questions and listens effectively," said Robert B. Brown, Director of Sales and Marketing at Hatteras Funds. "For almost 20 years, Mike has developed solid relationships with advisors and consultants in large part because he understands their business and listens to what they have to say. Mike's experience, knowledge and client-focused drive will enable us to exceed expectations and expand our services to advisors and end-clients throughout the Western U.S."

Mr. Hutten, who is based in Santa Barbara, Calif., served as Western Regional Director at Hatteras from August 2006 until March 2011. Prior to joining Hatteras, he held roles at Santa Barbara Alpha Strategies, the Alternative Specialist Group at Gartmore Global Investments and Montgomery Partners, the alternative investment division of Montgomery Asset Management.

"Hatteras is an industry leader in providing innovative alternative investment solutions to advisors. As demand for alternative investments continue to gain momentum, I look forward to helping financial advisors and their clients achieve their long-term investment goals," said Mr. Hutten. "Hatteras is an experienced organization that focuses upon and understands its clients, what challenges they face and offers products that serve their portfolio needs."
