Who's Covering the ICI GMM?

Paul Stevens kicked off the Investment Company Institute's (ICI) big annual General Membership Meeting Wednesday in Washington, D.C., and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Mary Schapiro and Hollywood mogul George Lucas spoke this morning, yet so far the big papers are silent on the event.

So far, MFWire.com has reported on:

  • Stevens' opening remarks, which included attacks on efforts to force commodities-using mutual funds to register with the CFTC and the SEC and on Mary Schapiro's plans for more money market mutual fund regulations;

  • a panel discussion yesterday including Schwab's Marie Chandoha, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney's Greg Fleming, Capital Group's Paul Haaga, Fidelity's Ron O'Hanley and Dodge & Cox' Kenneth Olivier; and

  • Schapiro's remarks today on money market mutual fund reform.

    AdvisorOne, MarketWatch and Securities Technology Monitor all covered Stevens' speech.

    InvestmentNews and Reuters both reported on the panel discussion yesterday with O'Hanley.

    OnWallStreet reported on Arianna Huffington's comments yesterday.

    C-SPAN, Dow Jones, InvestmentNews, MarketWatch and OnWallStreet all covered Schapiro's remarks this morning.

    Yet the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times and many others have not yet covered this GMM.
