Vanguard Move May Ignite Euro ETF Price War

Vanguard has added three hires to their London-based sales force in preparation to target Europe with a number of ETFs, reports Sophia Baker for Financial News.

The report adds that market watchers are anticipating that Vanguard's move will kick off "an ETF price war in Europe."

The US mutal fund provider said in a statement that Matt Hendy will be in charge of the southwest of UK, Andrew Walker for the east and Tania Allerton for Yorkshire and the north east.

According to report, the recent appointments are in line with Vanguard's hopes that their four ETFs will be approved in Europe. Last month, the firm also hired Slawomir Rzeszotko, former I-Shares Capital Markets vice president.

Analysts told Financial News last month that Vanguard plans to launch in Europe the S&P 500 fund which will charge less than State Street's European version of its S&P ETF.
