T-Shirts Tell a Fund Service Provider's Tale

The Altman Group used the ICI's Mutual Funds and Investment Management Conference as an opportunity to get the word out on its new name.

The New York-based provider of mutual fund and closed-end fund proxy services now goes by the name AST Fund Solutions. The rebranding came a year after the Altman Group was acquired by American Stock Transfer and Trust Company.

The name change "makes it a little less confusing to people that we are part of AST," said Paul Torre, executive vice president at AST Fund Solutions.

Torre and his team picked the ICI event as the venue for the formal launch of the new name because "it's a big conference," he told The MFWire in a phone interview from Scottsdale, where the conference kicked off yesterday and will run through tomorrow. "It's a good place to announce it."

"We've been giving away T-shirts at the ICI March event for eight years now," Torre said. "We try to get clever with the T-shirts."

Last year, the message on the T-shirt was about AST's acquisition of Altman Group.
