Wednesday, March 14, 2012 YouTube Users, Meet American Funds American Funds [profile] has traditionally focused its communications directly on advisors, not on the general public, so as to avoid overshadowing financial advisors' brands. Yet now Los Angeles-based Capital Group's giant mutual fund family is taking its message online in a publicly available fashion, via giant social network Facebook and video-streaming site YouTube. Jason Kephart of InvestmentNews reports that American Funds' Facebook page went up, for now with just a graphic link to the firm's website, "in the past few weeks," while the fund firm's YouTube debut is slated for summer. The move comes after American Funds has suffered three years of industry-leading net outflows in the wake of the financial crisis. Chuck Freadhoff, a spokesman for American Funds, confirmed to the pub that the new YouTube channel will feature American Funds' PMs, who generally don't speak in print media or on radio or television. "This will be another avenue for them to be seen and heard," Freadhoff told InvestmentNews. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=39459 Copyright 2012, InvestmentWires, Inc. All Rights Reserved |
