Fidelity, Lord Abbett, Janus All Make TheStreet's "Six Worst" for 2011 List

Frank Byrt of TheStreet names six mutual funds headed by star mutual fund PMs who saw their worst this year. The unfortunate half dozen fell victim to a no-show economic recovery, a problematic financial industry and record volatility.

The six include:

  • Lawrence Auriana and Hans Utsch, PMs of Federated Kaufmann (KAUAX) [profile], who turned in a negative 14 percent return;

  • Dan Frascarelli, PM of Lord Abbett Affiliated (LAFFX) [profile] since 2009 (his return: -9.8 percent);

  • Lawrence Rakers, PM of Fidelity Dividend Growth (FDGKX) [profile], which fell by 10.7 percent this year;

  • Bruce Berkowitz (no surprise here), whose Fairholme Fund (FAIRX) [profile] lost 30.6 percent; and

  • Brent Lynn, PM of Janus Overseas (JDIAX) [profile] and who is not likely to make long-time shareholders forget Helen Young Hayes with his 32 percent loss so far in 2011.
