Long Island Paper Gets Bent's Vision

Bruce R. Bent, co-inventor of the first money market fund, is in his local paper today for being one of the 60 fund industry visionaries honored by Strategic Insight this week.

The Manhasset Press article chronicled the path that Bent took before creating the Reserve Fund with Harry Brown in 1969.

Bent started out collecting discarded deposit bottles at construction sites in his younger days, then became a supermarket clerk throughout his high school years. Later, he became a clerk at the Great Neck Post Office, then served in the US Marine Corps, joined LF Rothschild after graduating from university and worked at TIAA-CREF for two years before launching his banking boutique shop, Brown & Bent.

The paper also highlights Bent's efforts in government reform.

Bent was among the honorees present at Strategic Insight's 25th anniversary gala dinner on Monday at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Click here to see MFWire's coverge of the gala and here to see photos from the event.
