Natixis Investment Pros Meet the Press

Natixis Global Associates yesterday hosted a media luncheon at Per Se in New York City to promote the findings of an investor survey and spotlight the views of three portfolio managers.

Around 65 reporters turned up at the tony restaurant in Manhattan's Time Warner Center.

Matthew Eagan, co-PM of Loomis Sayles Absolute Strategies Fund; Michael Buckius; co-PM of Gateway Fund and Francisco Alzuru, PM of Hansberger Emerging Latin America Fund, offered their investment outlook.

Tracey Flaherty, senior vice president of retirement strategy at Natixis Global Asset Management, stood in as moderator for John Hailer, president and CEO of Natixis Global Asset Management U.S. and Asia, who was unable to make it to New York due to the weather.

The survey's findings, which would come as no surprise to industry insiders, underscore a need for more information on alternative products.

Among the findings: seven in 10 respondents confessed they understood alternative investments "only a little" or "not well at all" and just one in 25 said they understood the investment vehicles "very well."

Also, 44.9 percent of respondents pointed to the "lack of enough information" on alternatives as the greatest barrier to considering such vehicles for their portfolios.
