Goldman Divvies Up Its Quant Unit

Goldman Sachs Asset Management's [see profile] quant chief Katinka Domotorffy is retiring from the firm at the end of the year, leaving the unit in the hands of a few other executives, DealBook reports.

Bloomberg also covered the news.

Domotorffy perviously oversaw some $56 billion in mutual funds, hedge funds and institutional accounts. In her stead, Goldman has appointed Armen Avanessians to head up the global quantitative business, while Ron Hua will take over as chief investment officer of the equity alpha business. Hua reportedly joined Goldman from PanAgora Asset Management. Also, Bill Fallon and Don Mulvihill, will also oversee investment strategies within the group. They both report to Avanessians.
