Johnson Emerges as Giants' Kingpin

Franklin Templeton[see profile] chairman Charles Johnson has emerged as the San Francisco Giants' team's largest stakeholder, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Johnson recently reportedly bought out a portion of the shares held by Trina Dean and Tori Humphrey, daughters of the late financier Harmon "Buzz" Burns, who along with Johnson was part of the group that rescued the Giants from moving to Tampa Bay in the early 1990s. He now holds more than a quarter of the team's shares, and will be de facto chairman of the team's board, according to the report.

However, Johnson's low-key personality looks to translate into a laissez faire approach to the team's management. One source told the pub that he is the polar opposite of the late George Steinbrenner and current Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
