American Funds Tops a 401k Niche

American Funds' EuroPacific Growth boasts more 401(k) assets than any other international stock mutual fund. Today BrightScope released another list of top funds, this time international stock ones, inside 401(k) plans.

The remainder of the funds on the list, from second on down to tenth, are: Fidelity Diversified International; Dodge & Cox International Stock; Vanguard International Growth; American Funds New Perspective; SSgA EAFE Index Fund; Vanguard Total International Stock Index; Artio International Equity, Harbor International; and TIAA-CREF Global Equities.

"International stock funds have become ubiquitous in 401k plans and today serve as one of the largest, fastest growing, and most lucrative pools of assets that an opportunistic asset manager can target from a sales perspective," stated Mike Alfred, CEO of San Diego-based BrightScope.

BrightScope drew its list from its database of more than 50,000 plans.
