Wasatch Names its New Director of Mutual Funds


Wasatch Advisors has tapped Eugene Podsiadlo for the role of director of mutual funds. Podsiadlo, a former president of Warburg Pincus Funds, has been on Wasatch's board since 2002 and takes part in business development, acquisitions and strategy.

Wasatch's previous director of mutual funds, Eric Huefner, left the company to pursue other opportunities, according to a company spokeswoman.

Podsiadlo also serves as managing director of Cross Creek Capital Partners, Wasatch's venture capital affiliate.

Earlier in his career, Podsiadlo was president of Warburg Pincus Funds and managing director of Warburg Pincus & Co. He joined Credit Suisse Asset Management after its acquisition of Warburg Pincus Asset Management in 2000. Later, he helped establish the operations of Japanese firm SPARX Asset Management's mutual fund business in the U.S.

Wasatch Advisors names Eugene Podsiadlo as Director of Mutual Funds

Salt Lake City, July 20, 2011 - Wasatch Advisors, Inc., investment advisors to the Wasatch Funds mutual fund family has named Eugene (Gene) Podsiadlo Director of Mutual Funds for the organization.

Mr. Podsiadlo serves on the Board of Directors of Wasatch Advisors (since 2002) and participates in various activities for the firm, including business development, acquisitions, and strategy. He is also a managing director of the firm’s venture capital affiliate, Cross Creek Capital Partners.

He joined Warburg Pincus in 1991 and devised and implemented the business and marketing plan for its U.S. retail and institutional mutual fund business, which grew to over $11 billion in assets in 7 years. Mr. Podsiadlo was also director of Warburg Pincus’ Tokyo subsidiary and built a successful bank ITM (mutual fund) business in Japan.

Following the acquisition of Warburg Pincus Asset Management in 2000 by Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), Mr. Podsiadlo was a managing director and member of the CSAM Management Committee (U.S). In 2003, Mr. Podsiadlo was named president of SPARX Funds Trust, and helped organize the operations of the U.S. mutual fund business for SPARX Asset Management, Ltd., one of the largest independent publicly-traded investment firms in Japan. Mr. Podsiadlo holds a BS Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from University of Maryland.
