Money Market Fund Players Turn their Gaze Toward Washington

Starting at 2 p.m. today, the SEC led by chairman Mary Schapiro will conduct a three-hour roundtable on money market funds and systemic risk.

The roundtable, which will be available by Webcast on the SEC's Web site, will tackle topics such as potential for money market funds to pose a systemic risk to broader financial markets. Panelists will also discuss possible options for further regulatory reform and their implications, including floating NAV and bank regulations, among others.

Panelists from the industry include Robert Brown, president of the money market group at Fidelity Management & Research Company and Seth Bernstein, global head of fixed income at JPMorgan Asset Management.
