Thursday, April 21, 2011 Another PM Joins a New Fund's Circle The brand new 361° Absolute Alpha Fund is getting a new PM. On Tuesday 361° Capital filed to add Jeremy Frank, head of quantitative analysis, to the fund's PM team [see filing]. 361 principal and CEO Tom Florence explained that Frank joined the fund's investment committee at the same time as Blaine Rollins, a Janus alum [see The MFWire, 3/17/2011]. This change simply makes Frank's position with the fund official. The move may not surprise fundsters familiar with the Denver-based alternatives manager, as Frank has worked at 361 since 2008. The fund, 361's first, launched on December 31. It already boasts six other PMs: Florence, Rollins, 361 principal and chief investment officer Brian Cunningham, BRC Investment Management director of quantitative equity Mark Frederick, Tributary Capital Management principal Mark Wynegar, and Tributary equities PM Michael Johnson. (BRC and Tributary sub-advise the fund.) Florence explained that the fund is basically run by committee, led by Cunningham.
