Putnam Picks a Wireless Program

Putnam Investments has selected PYXIS Consulting's mWholesaler solution as the mobile system for its fund wholesalers.

Wholesalers can use the system on personal digital assistants (PDAs) to manage client contacts, view critical data, track activity and deliver PowerPoint presentations. By using the system, Putnam's highly mobile wholesaler team can just carry PDAs to daily meetings and bypass laptops and paper files altogether.

"We view mobile technology as a critical tool in our client service strategy," said Managing Director Tom Halloran, who heads Putnam's Channel Business Development and Training. "mWholesaler gives our team the data they need to provide the highest level of client service in a convenient PDA format that they will really use."

Todd Christy, Managing Director at Wellesley, Massachusetts-based Pyxis, notes, "Historically, mutual fund wholesalers have been challenged by technology because of difficulties with laptop portability, long boot and synchronization times, and complex applications. Our mobile product gives wholesalers exactly what they need to overcome these issues."

Pyxis started development of mWholesaler sixteen months ago, according to Christopher Willis, director, marketing at the technology services firm, who added that up to ten Fortune 100 mutual fund companies are looking to implement the system.

The application runs on Pocket PC, Blackberry and Palm handheld computers, providing instant-on, secure access to enterprise data. Data can be transferred from PDAs to a firm's enterprise sales, CRM, literature, and email systems through two-way data synchronization system over both wired or wireless connections.
