Columbia Hires New Manager for NY Area

Columbia Management Group has named Brian Seidman, formerly senior investment strategist with Julius Baer Investment Management in New York, to oversee investment management activities for the New York and Long Island area. He will focus on the high-net worth and mid-market institutions markets.

The asset management arm of FleetBoston Financial manages $45 billion for high net worth clients in Fleet's Private Clients Group and $14 billion for mid-market institutional clients. Seidman will report to Thomas P. Fay, CFA, managing director of regional investments.

"In Brian, we have tapped a seasoned and highly regarded professional who we are confident will help us compete in one of the nation's wealthiest and most competitive markets," said Fay in the release.
