Friday, January 14, 2011 HighMark Hires Two Wholesalers, Hunts for a Divisional Manager HighMark Funds [see profile] has made two sales hires and is in the midst of a search for an eastern divisional manager, said Kevin Rowell, senior vice president and managing director of mutual funds at HighMark Capital Management. Union Bank-owned HighMark hired Cornerstone Funds alum Mike Carroll as a wholesaler for the New York City area. That post is new. HighMark tapped Will Oliveira, previously with FAF Funds, to cover the New England territory. Oliveira is replacing someone in that role. HighMark has 15 external wholesalers and eight internals, Rowell said. Carroll and Oliveira both started in mid-December. The firm has also created an eastern divisional manager position and a search is underway for that job. "We're growing," said Rowell, who heads up distribution efforts, in an interview with The MFWire.com. "I need more help in managing distribution." Having a divisional manager, he said, would enable him to spend more time on strategy and home-office clients. Down the road, Rowell plans to also hire a divisional manager for the West.
