One of McNamara's challenges will be to let the rest of the investment world onto USAA's story. That challenge stems from USAA's historically closed structure for some of its businesses. It started as an auto insurer open only to officers from 1922 to 1996 when it opened its pool to active service members. It was not until last year, that the firm opened its insurance to all honorably discharged veterans. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=35078 Copyright 2010, InvestmentWires, Inc.
