Vinik Supports Boston's Museum of Fine Arts

A former Fidelity portfolio manager's name is immortalized in an art museum.

Jeff Vinik, a former portfolio manager of the Magellan fund, reportedly donated millions to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston during 2001 as a surprise birthday gift to his wife, Penny. She currently heads the museum's Fashion Council, a new group focused on adding 20th- and 21st-century fashion to the museum's collection of historic costumes.

Vinik's generous donation ensures that both their names will appear on a gallery in a new Art of the Americas wing, which will make its debut this Saturday night. Happy birthday indeed.
