Fifth Third Taps Talent from Russell

Fifth Third Asset Management [see profile] has brought on board Matthew Waters as its new sales desk manager. Waters takes over from Mike Bacon, who left Fifth Third to pursue other opportunities, according to company spokeswoman Charissa Brinkman.

Waters, who started at Fifth Third on July 19, oversees six internal wholesalers and reports to Gavin Whitmore, managing director of intermediary distribution.

Previously, Waters was with Russell Investments, where he spent the past two years as a sales associate covering wirehouses, regional broker-dealers and RIAs in the Carolinas and Virginia. Earlier, he spent six years at Raymond James Financial.

A spokesperson for Russell could not immediately be reached for comment on how Waters' former duties are being handled.
