The WSJ Gives a Nod to International, EM Funds

Internationaal and emerging market stock funds are on a roll. Today's Wall Street Journal report says the international-stock fund category was up 16 percent on average over the past three months, "handily" thumping U.S. funds' 12 percent returns, according to preliminary data from Morningstar.

The funds' outperformance were reportedly a result of a recovery in Europe from a poor second quarter and emerging markets' strengthening of their yearlong outperformance.

Latin America stock funds rose 24 percent, global real-estate-oriented funds gained 20 percent, China region funds added 18 percent and Europe-focused stock funds rose 19 percent.

The report also noted that emerging markets' returned 19 percent in the third quarter and just over 11 percent so far this year.
