Mutual Fund Players are Among the Fastest-Growing Firms


Inc. magazine today took the wraps off its latest list of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the nation. Investment managers Saturna Capital [see profile], RiverRoad Asset Management and Roosevelt Investments [see profile] are among the firms that made the list.

Saturna, investment adviser to the Amana, Sextant and Idaho mutual funds, came in at No. 847. The Bellingham, Washington-based company saw a 354 percent revenue growth over the three years ended 2009. Revenue last year totaled $23.7 million, compared to $5.2 million in 2006.

Aviva Investors-owned River Road Asset Management, which sub-advises three mutual funds for Aston Asset Management and also offers separate accounts, placed 1012th. Revenue at the Louisville, Kentucky-based firm ballooned by 296 percent, from $3.7 million in 2006 to $14.6 million in 2009.

For its part, New York City-headquartered Roosevelt ranked 1637th on the list. The firm, which offers SMAs and the Roosevelt Multi Cap mutual fund, saw a 174-percent revenue growth, from $6.3 million in 2006 to $17.2 million in 2009.

PR firms Dukas Public Relations (No. 2065), CJP Communiations ( No. 3847) and SunStar (No. 4860) likewise landed on the list.
