Thursday, August 19, 2010 Is Pioneer Headed for a Breakup? If the rumor mill is to be believed, the bigwigs at UniCredit are now more open to the possibility of selling the U.S. unit of Pioneer Global Asset Management [see profile] separately. On Wednesday, InvestmentNews reported that a breakup of Pioneer is "likely," citing "bankers familiar with the discussions" as its source. "The tide of gossip has turned more to that they will split the business because they can get a better valuation," a banker was quoted as saying. "They started out saying it's going to be one transaction, and the more work they do, they are more open to bifurcating it."
