McNabb Worries That We Lost 'a Generation of Young Investors'

In the wake of the 2008 financial crisis and the 2010 flash crash (and subsequent non-flash plunge), will young investors simply give up on the markets? That possibility, reports MarketWatch's Chuck Jaffe, is apparently keeping Vanguard chief Bill McNabb up at night.

"We are on the brink of losing a generation of young investors," McNabb reportedly said last week at the Morningstar Investor Conference in Chicago. "As I talk with young people, I hear it. They don't like this volatility."

Fundsters interested the difference between recent financial pain and prior instances may want to read Jaffe's full column.

Advisors Herbert Daroff (of Boston-based Baystate Financial Planning) and Judy Shine (of Lone Tree, Colorado-based Shine Investment Advisory Services) also weigh in for the article.
