Fidelity 50 Manager Retires

Fidelity is losing the lead portfolio manager on its Fidelity Fifty fund to retirement. John Muresianu, 48, said that he is stepping down from the fund. He is leaving on top as the fund is up 11 percent in 2002 and has shown positive returns since he took it over at the start of 1999.

Bosont-based Fidelity said Muresianu's decision was personal and that he will manage his own money after retirement.

Taking the helm at the fund will be Fergus Shiel, 44, He has been the portfolio manager on the Fidelity Independence fund since June 1996. It will retain those duties.
