Litman Gregory Speaks Out

Stepping a bit outside the structured events, Litman/Gregory is hosting a meeting for RIAs at the Morningstar conference. Advisors will have the chance to meet with some of the managers for Masters' Select Funds, Kipp Kjeldgaard, director of marketing for the fund family, told the MutualFundWire.com.

There will be three speakers in attendance: Ken Gregory, president and chief investment officer for the firm; Chris Davis of Davis Selected Advisers; and David Herro of Harris Associates. The meeting is not an official part of the Morningstar conference. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26th from 7:30-8:30 in the morning. It will be held at Acapulco Room, Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.

The subject of the meeting is "What It Takes to be a Great Stock Picker". "Even in this environment, especially in this environment, it is important for stock pickers to be disciplined and focused. We do not worry so much about being situated in a particular style box. We are concerned with the best in the business, bottom up stock pickers," Kjeldgaard reported.

Litman/Gregory is also the publisher of No Load Fund Analyst and has a website dedicated just for RIAs.

Further, the firm has been looking to launch a small-cap fund over the past two years. "We have been looking, but we haven't found the final one or two managers that we have a conviction in. This is a harder class because of asset constraints. We have found managers we liked, but then they've had to close their offerings to new investments. We hope to have this new product launched by the end of the year."

If launched, the small-cap value offering would join Masters' Select Equity (MSEFX), Masters' Select International (MSLIX), and Masters' Select Value (MSVFX).
