Wednesday, February 24, 2010 SEC Lists Effective Date for Money Fund Rules Changes to money market fund rules will go into effect on May 5, reports Daisy Maxey in Wednesday's Wall Street Journal Fund Track column. Along with the final amendments, the SEC also posted compliance dates for the changes. The Fund Track column also contained a piece by Ian Salisbury on Legg Mason's plans to enter the active ETF business. (See The MFWire's Tuesday coverage of Legg Mason' SEC filing.) Meanwhile, former Franklin portfolio manager David Marcus continues to receive media exposure on the launch of two funds from his new firm, Evermore Global Advisors. MarketWatch's Sam Mamudi covered the launch Friday last week, as did The MFWire. Now, Mamudi's article appeared in Wednesday's WSJ Fund Track column (WSJ and MarketWatch are sister publications.)
