C&B Funds Taps Distribution

Cooke & Bieler has tapped Turner Investment Distributors to distribute its three C&B funds to intermediaries. In the lingo of the two firms, the deal makes Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based Turner the sub-distributor for the three C&B Portfolios advised by Cooke & Bieler. SEI is the distributor of the funds.

The three funds (C&B Large Cap Value Portfolio, C&B Mid Cap Value Portfolio, and C&B Tax-Managed Value Portfolio) hold just $55 million in assets. Turner will provide distribution assistance and market the funds to intermediaries, including financial advisors, bankers, brokers, and 401(k) plan administrators, said the firms.

The agreement will presumably allow Cooke & Bieler to remain focused on portfolio management while Turner handles the in the trenches marketing of the funds. Turner can use the agreement to leverage the marketing and sales team it has built to handle its own 19 funds.

"Turner has an outstanding team and the infrastructure and capabilities to market effectively to key intermediary audiences," stated Kermit Eck, partner and portfolio manager with Cooke & Bieler. "By working with Turner, we can expand our mutual fund distribution while retaining our independence. This relationship allows our investment team to maintain its focus on investing and servicing our institutional and high net worth, separate account clients."
