Dimensional Turns to Europe

Dimensional Fund Advisors has tapped David Salisbury to be the chief executive for its European operations, John Siciliano, director of global institutional services at the firm, told the MutualFundWire.com. Salisbury is formerly the chief executive for Schroders plc.

This is a new post and represents the firm's efforts to build business in Europe. Dimensional is creating European-based funds as well. Salisbury's office will be located in the Mayfair section of London. He will have an equity stake in Dimensional.

"We see tremendous opportunity to European markets, both in the United Kingdom and on the continent. We are in the process of registering funds in Dublin, a process which should be done at the end of the month. We are also looking to make a senior marketing hire by the end of the month," Siciliano reported.

Dimensional is, in particular, focusing on three markets in Europe: the private client market, the large institutional market, and the small and medium institutional market.

Dimensional currently has a trading desk in London and expects to be fully operational on the marketing side in two to three months.
