Berger Continues VA Push

American Life Insurance Company has added portfolios from Berger Funds to its variable annuity lineup. The firm will add Berger's five Series Trust funds to its product.

The funds include: Berger IPT-Growth, Berger IPT-Large Cap Growth, Berger IPT-Small Company Growth, Berger IPT-New Generation and Berger IPT-International.

Berger continues to seek additional partners to add through the variable annuity distribution channel. The firm has added resources to its vaiable annuity efforts in 2001 and expects to build that business in 2002. Berger has mnanaged assets for variable annuity products for a little more than five years.

"The variable annuity market is rapidly growing and Berger is working hard to increase our presence in this arena through new partnerships with best-of-breed insurance companies," said Dave Mertens, Berger senior vice president of Institutional Marketing.

Mertens added that Berger expects to add two additional value portfolios to its quiver early in 2002. Those products -- mid cap value and small cap value -- are currently in registration.
