Doc Savage Fights for Lord Abbett

It does sound a little like something out of a comic book. James "Doc" Savage has joined the team at Lord Abbett as its director of public fund marketing. He will be working specifically on growing the firms business in the defined benefit arena.

Savage has a colorful career, to say the least. Before this move, he served as vice president of marketing for the institutional investment unit at Merrill Lynch. And prior to that, he was member of the New York Police Department and president of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association where he chaired the police pension fund.

"We look forward to expanding our existing client base and feel strongly that Doc's extensive experience, leadership and reputation throughout the industry will greatly complement Lord Abbett's investment capabilities for new public-fund sector clients," stated Daria Foster, partner and senior director and the head of the institutional investment business at Lord Abbett.
