SSRM Rethreads Web

State Street Research has revamped the Web site [www.ssrfunds.com] for investment professionals and retail investors simplified access to information on the fund family and their accounts. The changes are phase one of an ongoing effort, explained Nancy Spalding Gray, vice president of e-commerce at State Street Research.

The changes were made to lay the foundation for the next phases of the development, she explained. It was also brought in synch with the firm's other corporate sites in look and feel and the navigation and menus were simplified.

The changes were also made to freshen the site in order to attract more users and encourage advisors to find and use its features.

"The site has as been around for four years and design and navigation needed an overhaul to keep up with its competitors and State Street Research's other Web sites," said Spalding Gray.

One area that was bolstered was the section for financial professionals. The site now features sales ideas in an all new "Build Your Business" section and additional content. The content will be aligned with the firm's fund marketing efforts.

Spalding Gray says that the next phase of the redesign will include the firm's institutional and 401(k) sites. Phase one for those sites occurred last fall. The next changes will include adding more functionality.

Changes on the sites in 2002 will also be more focused on the client-access side of the sites. "We plan to clean it up more based on feedback from first stage," she explained.
