Artisan Funds Names Two Directors


Watson Wyatt & Company is acquiring actuarial and benefits consulting firm Gabriel, Roeder, Smith & Company. An alliance agreement effective August 31 stipulates that the two firms will refer each other future business and share consulting projects.

Trading of a new Barclay's iShare based on the MSCI EAFE Index Fund started today on the American Stock Exchange. The ETF tracks the Morgan Stanley Capital Initiatives index for international markets.

Artisan Funds has tapped two new directors for its Board. The two are Jeffrey Joerres, chairman, CEO and president of Manpower and Patrick Pittard, chairman, president and CEO of Heidrick & Struggles.

Glen Frey has left Orbitex Management where he was portfolio manager for the $119 Orbitex Info-Tech & Communications Fund. Frey was also sub-adviser for Monument Group's $32 million Digital Technology and Telecommunications funds. Michael Romanowski, former vice president of Fortis Advisors, who joined Orbitex this year will now manage the Orbitex Info-Tech & Communications Fund.
