Neuberger Berman smells money in the nation's capital. The firm said today that it has tapped Bruce S. Tanous to head a new office in Washington DC. Tanous, who joins the firm as regional vice president, is charged with building the new office to serve affluent investors, foundations and family offices in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia markets.

Tanous joins the firm from Washington-based ASB Capital Management. Officials at that firm have been unable to comment on whether Tanous position their is in time for this story.

He will report to Heidi Schneider, executive vice president and head of the firm's Private Asset Management Group. Schneider was on the road and unavailable for comment.
