Friday, June 22, 2001 Turner Conquers a Titan Turner Investment Partners has made a bid for a titan: Titan Investment Advisers, that is. The firm is purchasing the Upper Marlboro, Maryland firm from the estate of president Gilbert Giordano, who died in January. The firm manages the Titan Financial Services Fund, which consistently outperformed its peers until manager Giordano's demise. Morningstar continues to list him as manager of the fund. In a prospectus supplement from January 31, Titan announced the liquidation of its Growth Fund. Dr. Mervin Zimmerman took over day-to-day management of the fund after Giordano's death until Harris Bretall Sullivan & Smith started sub-advising the fund. In a recent SEC filing, Turner announced its intention to take over management of the fund and, with approval, merge it into its own financial services fund.
