American Century Adds Advisor Shares


Martin Whitman has decided to cut back on activities at two of his company's mutual funds. However, he intends to remain head of the $2.5 billion Third Avenue Value Fund. Curtis Jensen has been named manager of the $205 million Third Avenue Small-Cap Value Fund and Michael Winer has been named manager of the $49 million Third Avenue Real Estate Value Fund.

SunAmerica Mutual Funds has launched its K.I.D.S. Web site, which complements the firm's young investor education program. The firm also offers financial professionals access to the site.

Friday, American Century is taking the wraps off three new funds. The funds are American Century New Opportunities II, American Century International Opportunities and American Century Target 2030 Fund. The last fund is the sixth target fund. New Opportunities is an aggressive growth fund. The funds raised just under $10 million in their one-month subscription period.

Amercan Century is also now offering its new "C" shares to intermediaries for 23 funds. The share class has been in a subscription period for the past 31 days through American Express, Legg Mason and Linsco Private Ledger.

Kinder, Lydenberg, Domini & Co. has inked a deal to jointly market a new family of KLD social indexes and associated performance analytics with Russell/Mellon Analytical Services. Three benchmarks are based on the Russell 1000, 2000 and 3000 indices.
