Executives at Lazard are gossiping about a possible merger opportunity with Merrill, said the New York Post today, after Merrill ceo David Komansky discreetly approached the firm in the last several weeks. William Loomis, Lazard's ceo, called the account "a complete fabrication and totally false and misleading."

JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management announced today the launch of the JPMorgan Fleming Tax Aware International Opportunities Fund. The fund opened two weeks ago, amassing $200 million in assets.

Fund manager expectations for a global economic recovery are increasing, according to the May Merrill Lynch fund manager survey released on Tuesday. The surveying of 249 fund managers also found investors increasing Japanese positions, although inflationary concerns will grow in the next 12 months.
