Another insurer fell to Invesco's VA placement pitch: Sage Life Assurance of America added three sector portfolios and a blue chip growth portfolios to its investment lineup.

Sun Life has added the five following asset managers to its Futurity portfolio of variable annuities: Alliance Capital, Fidelity, Invesco, Neuberger Berman, and Rydex.

Farmers New World Life Insurance has formed alliances with the following firms to offer investment sub-accounts for the company's variable annuity and universal life products: Fidelity, Dreyfus, Calvert, WM Group, and Goldman Sachs.

American Century has begun a 31-day subscription period to offer C shares of its mutual funds. They are being sold through financial intermediaries.
* * *

Stanley Peterson has been named managing director for the newly created national accounts department at Manulife. This department is intended to provide broker/dealers with a single source of information about the firm's business lines. The executive formerly served at Merrill Lynch as a first vice president and senior director, and he was the national sales director of the insurance group.

The House Ways and Means Committee and the House Education Committee voiced their approval to the ERISA portions of the Portman-Cardin bill yesterday. A vote in the full House is expected tomorrow.
