Sales Openings at Hancock

John Hancock Funds is looking to replace two mutual fund wholesalers. The openings are in the southwest region covering New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas and in the midwest, covering Indiana.

Jack Cowden, based in Dallas, has gone to BankOne where he reports to Hancock alum Curt Pollitt. With a respectful nod to his former employer's acumen at selecting and training it staff, Pollitt also snagged Chicago-based Andy Martone last year.

Keith McFadyen, from the Indiana territory, has taken a wholesaling position closer to his Chicago home with MainStay Funds.

While replacing wholesalers is not always the most envied task, the landscape has changed significantly from last year.

"A year ago, you had to pay up for wholesalers," said Keith Hartstein, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Guys didn't want to move unless you threw stock options and a lot of money at them. There's none of that today. There's also a fair number of brokers that are considering career changes to wholesaler."
