New Marketer at Citizens


Citizens Advisers has tapped a new head of marketing for its $2 billion, no-load fund family. The new executive, Valentina Dingle, joins the Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based firm from Kana Communications where she managed marketing efforts to bring web-based enterprise relationship management technology to bank, insurance and financial markets.

Dingle, who joined the firm two weeks ago, takes the title of to vice president of marketing and will lead will lead Citizens Funds' marketing, public relations and communications efforts, with emphasis on the institutional and retail marketplace. She takes a position vacated by Christine Polizzotto and reports to John Shields, president and ceo of Citizens Advisers.

Her initial focus will be to ensure that the firm has the appropriate focus on the institutional marketplace, she explained. Citizen's roots are in the retail markets. Primarily retirement, advisors and intermediaries and defined contribution investment-only, defined benefit, foundations and endowments.

Current sales are running at an annualized fifty-fifty split in sales between the retail and the institutional channels.

"Val is a key addition to our team here at Citizens Funds," said Shields. "Her vast experience in marketing and the financial services arena make her highly qualified to oversee all aspects of Citizens Funds' communications efforts during this time of incredible growth."

She was also a managing director at NewRiver prior to moving to Kana. Previous to that was vice president/market manager for Fidelity Investments' investment advisor group. She also served as senior vice president for Allmerica Financial's institutional services division, where she directed marketing, communications and distribution support across multiple product lines and distribution channels.
