Driving Safely

Fidelity Investments and OnStar have announced a new perk to the users of its wireless capabilities. Fidelity's customers will now be able to access their personal account balances and holdings and make trades while driving through OnStar Virtual Advisor.

This is the second phase of Fidelity's investing service through OnStar Virtual Advisor. OnStar is currently rolling the service out to clients across the country. A feature of the product includes enabling customers to hear their personalized Web-based information without the distraction of screens or displays. Back in February Fidelity began providing quotes, watch lists and market information to Onstar Virtual Advisor subscribers.

"We are pleased to expand our wireless services to provide mobile investors with unprecedented access to their financial portfolios," said Joseph Ferra, chief wireless officer at Fidelity eBusienss. "Now our customers can manage, monitor and trade their investments safely and securely through his hands-free, voice-activated service whether they're on the road to a meeting or delayed in traffic."

Through OnStar Virtual Advisor, Fidelity customers can trade stocks, mutual funds and options, transfer funds, review orders and get their account information.

Additionally, Fidelity has plans to enhance the service to allow many of its clients to request their retirement account balances and positions from their cars.
