FedEx Can't Deliver Funds.

Since different regulations make access to distribution in Europe and Asia more difficult, JP Morgan Investor Services will flesh out this segment of business with international partnerships.

"There could be a huge infrastructure built around joint ventures, acquistions, and alliances," said George Evans, senior vice president and global business development executive. "Many of these deals are already in different stages of discussion."

On the heels of the launch of global ETF services, the emphatic international strategy suggests the backoffice-service provider is eager to solidify the growing barriers of entry.

"There's a huge distribution play since private or retail banks aren't going to leverage the entire firm," said Evans. "When you start to position the entire firm around a mutual fund, no other business will have that product set."
